Maya's 3rd Month
December 2011 - January 2012
This month has been fairly ... do I dare say it... 'normal!'
We have finally been able to show our baby girl off, so we have been out and about doing things and seeing people. Maya also spent her 1st night in her cot after putting on almost 3lbs since her birth and growing 6cm in length.
Here are a few photos from our month at home with no scheduled hospital or doctors appointments!

Maya's Development
Maya has become much more alert this month. She has started to hold things and take notice of her surroundings. She enjoys looking at lights and colourful things and listening to singing. She is now able to sit propped up against cushions for short periods of time. We have found the 'widgy' very useful for doing this. Maya continues to sleep through the night from 12am to 7am without any troubles.
The Very Hungry Caterpillar
Maya has continued to love her milk this month and has put a total of 3lbs on from her birth weight. This month alone she has put on 1lb 9oz! She has grow 6cm since birth too. Maya continues to be fed by Expressed Breast Milk in a bottle or by Breast.
Maya's Additional Care
Maya's additional care this month has required a visit once a week from the community nursing team to check Maya's progress and to flush her central line with saline in case it was needed in the future.
We also encountered a few problems with her central line including 2 blockages that required a quick trip to Bolton hospital each time to be pushed by a doctor and a skin irritation/infection from Maya finding it and giving it a good tug requiring a short course of oral antibiotics and some cream to prevent infection. Other than that we have just been enjoying family life doing all the things we have been looking so forward too.
