Getting ready for Christmas
The weekend before Christmas we made a trip to Bolton to see the family and do some Christmas things.
I 'd planned a hectic schedule to cram everything in like:
1. Visit Santa and the Reindeers
2. See family - Great grandma and Aunts and Uncles
planned to visit
3. Christmas shopping
4. Carol service/Nativity play
5. Pantomine
6. Make things - cards, decorations etc.
7. Visit Manchester Christmas markets
Well, the weekend started off going to plan with a trip to Manchester Christmas Markets and then a visit from family on the Sunday.

Manchester Christmas Markets
Maya's first trip to Manchester Christmas markets with Nana, pops, Aunty Heather.
But then.....
Maya being Maya decided she would quite like to go see the hospital she was born in (Bolton) and subsequently the hospital she spent the first 2 months of her life in (Manchester Children's hospital).
Maya had a seizure linked to an unknown cause. Resulting in a very fearful week long stay involving many tests, scans and procedures. The initial diagnosis was febrile convulsion similarly to previous seizures caused by a fever as a result of a UTI. The usual course of antibiotics were started through IM injections (Maya's not got any veins left worth trying to canulate) and we expected her to be back to her usual self the next day. She wasn't. We also noticed that her shunt resivoir was concaved (like it wasn't refilling). We began to get worried that she wasn't improving and queried the doctors that this wasn't how Maya usual is and that she normally bounces back. A few days of this went on with no improvements and Maya was transfered to ward 78 Manchester Children's hospital for Neuro care. A CT scan and shunt tap were performed to examine her shunt. She was thankfully given the all clear and remained on an intense course of antibiotics with close observations for a further week.

Our great thanks and appreciation goes out to all the wonderful Nurses, doctors and specialists at both hospitals who helped us all get through this difficult time. It was great to see everyone again, we just wish it had been in better circumstances!
And to all our family and friends who not only laugh with us through the good times but are equally there through the hard times.
