November
Well november has been a very busy month. It started with a urine infection and lots of problems with her indwelling catheter. The problems resulted in lots of siezure activity especiall tonic clonic siezures but we manage at home for most of them with community support. Each siezure seems to take just that little bit longer to recover from and each one seems to take away one of mayas skills but as you can see from the pic on the left. Shes mainly happy and smiling and thats all that matters to me.
This month Max started walking for the first time :-) which was amazing and full of happy tears but I will also say it did make me a little sad seeing maya cheer her brother on for managing to do something she can not. She is amazing and although she gets fustrated because she can not do something herself she is still full of praise and happiness for her brother. Here is the first video we caught of him in action

Urology Surgery
On the 26th November Maya was admitted to Nottingham QMC for surgery under Mr Williams her Urologist. The surgery went well and a suprapubic catheter was inserted into her tummy to drain urine. The catheter will need changing every 6-8 weeks and is on constant drain in to a bag in the hope to reduce infections and protect her bladder and kidneys from further damage. Maya remains on antibiotics and close monitoring to ensure this type of catheter is the right decision for Maya. On this addmission Maya also had an ultrasound of her kidneys so we have a baseline presurgery to compare further testing too. It was found on this ultra sound that Maya has a Right duplex kidney similar to Max. Heres some photos from her admission
