Year 1
Maya has settled in to year 1 really well.
In just a few weeks she has come on leaps and bounds and has even progressed on to Blue reading books. This is a mjor major deal! Books are starting to look like books!! She is also able to read or give it a good go pretty much any thing she sees. so lables, signs, posters... you name it! She is also reading familiar story books and has started reading to Max too.
Other big things are, starting to tell the time on a digital watch. She is able to tell you the numbers in order and whether it is morning, night time etc. She is also able to recognize a specific time. e.g. 11:00 and whether it has been or not.
Her hand writing and keyboard skills continue to develop and her ability to express and coordinate her ideas and thoughts has vastly improved.
Maya continues to love school and has many friends. She continues to thrive and enjoys the challenges and experiences school offers.
Maya has also been wearing pants during the day time. This is another major milestone for her and she is really happy that she isn't in nappies at school anymore. She does realize though that things may change but for now we are working with school and her healthcare professionals to keep her in pants.
Maya continues to grow in independence and is working on self help skills to increase her independence further. We hope by the end of this year Maya will be able to do many more things with little to no help.
Max has also started school this year and they are enjoying being at school together. Maya is enjoying being a big sister and showing him how its all done.
