Maya's 5th Month
February - March 2012
This month we moved to Whittlesey in Cambridgshire. The move came about because of the work situation in Bolton and the availability of a lovely Bungalow thanks to Peter and family. The weather has been fantastic since moving and we have been out and about exploring, meeting new people, making friends and enjoying the sunshine. Maya has had a really good month with no unexpected hospital visits or appointments.
Our typical week consists of:
Mondays we go to Mother and Baby group at the local Children's centre where we have met some lovely people. On the first session Maya was a little unsure but by the 3rd visit when people's faces had become more familiar she was happy and smiling and chatting to everyone. Maya gets quite anxious when around crying babies though but hopefully she will become more relaxed in time.
Tuesdays we go to Sing and Sign ran at a local Church hall. These sessions are brilliant! Maya loves hearing people sing and gets really excited at all the actions to the songs. Some of the Mums and babies from the Monday group also attend so it was nice to see some familiar faces. There are also older children aged 0 - 3 at the session and it's really nice to see Maya watching and starting to interact with other children.
Wednesday we have a home day playing with Maya's toys or we go out for the day as a family.
Thursdays we go Swimming as a family to the Baby session. We are fortunate to have a baby swimming pool at our local leisure centre where the water is shallow and a little bit warmer. Maya Loves Swimming!! So we make sure we go every week.
Fridays we do shopping and home activities. Maya enjoys shopping and we do lots of interaction looking at different colours, shapes, textures as we go round.
The weekends are spent as a family getting out and about. We enjoy going to the butterfly park and birds of prey centre at long sutton, going for walks with our dog and trips further afield to the seaside, zoo and to Bolton and York to visit family.
Here are just a few pictures of what we have been up to:

Maya's Development
Maya is progressing well. She is able to sit with support.
Maya has started making lots of babbling, gurgling and cooing noises. She smiles and laughs a lot and is really happy. Maya is focusing on things around her and really starting to play with her toys and take interest in everything. Maya is sleeping through the night from 10pm - 7am.

The Very Hungry Caterpillar
Maya continues to be breast fed or EBM bottle fed but has around 6 - 7 feeds a day of about 250mls each time. We are holding of weaning her until next month as she can not support her head very well or sit in a high chair properly. Once she become a bit stronger and can hold her own head up we think she will be ready. Maya now weighs 16lb 9oz and 62cm long!
Additional Care
Maya has had her Hickman line removed this month which has given her much more freedom on her tummy. Hopefully in the next month or so she will start to be able to lift her head up when on her tummy and be more comfortable when laid on her front.
Maya has not needed any other additional care this month and fingers crossed her reviews at Addenbrooke's hospital next month will go well.
